Terra Serpentis is proud to announce the release of their first short play CD. “Early Times” contains recordings of three popular medieval songs, re-interpreted by the band with bagpipes, crumhorns, rauschpfeifes, drums, bells, flute and recorders. In addition to an acoustic playing of the song on traditional medieval instruments, each tune is also represented by a modernized, synth, bass guitar, and drum driven make-over fit for driving or dark nightclub play.
The great harvest time is upon us. Jera: the turning of the wheel away from the Sun and to its yearly demise.
Terra Serpentis welcomes the talents of Melissa Santangelo to our recording and live efforts!
We met Melissa at New Hope Renaissance Festival. Though I had been aware of her band Oubliette Ensemble since about 2005 we had not yet crossed paths. I was thrilled to find them also plying their lovely ethereal medieval sounds on the streets of New Hope.
Terra Serpentis is proud to welcome the lovely and talented Nehilia (known to the modern world as Wendy Gale). She is an experienced musician specializing in Flutes, Recorders, Krumhorn, Cornamuse and in her words seems to particularly like “medieval tunes on buzzy instruments and big drums that go BOOM”. Which I would say is one of the most succinct assessments of our sound to date. She has a history of period music recording and performance with her previous band Burlap Lute. To our delights Wendy also has delved into the shadow-world of the gothic and industrial underground (from whence we came) and is looking forward to working on some slightly thicker (yet still medieval) darkwave driven mixes.
A big thanks to the staff and organizers of the New Hope Renaissance Faire. We had a great time. And an extra big thanks to all who came to see us, gave us feedback, and met with us around the shows. We have some new photos uploaded here at the site
Dress Your Dreams – a period and costume garb designer based in Manheim, Pennsylvania is designing some rather sleek, dark, and lovely costumes for the band. Stay tuned for pictures or better yet come out to see us live and check them out. Drop by the Dress Your Dreams website and look at their lovely catalog.
Terra Serpentis has officially opened a call for additional players.
We are specifically looking for melody players. We are not restricting the call to only period or ancient instruments; we are open to a variety of sounds and styles. Check out our songs; check out the links on the “bands” page of the website. If what you hear captures your imagination and fuels your creative desire – send us an email.
The days are getting longer and Sol is reclaiming her warm golden hue. Even if more snow is at the onset this weekend.
The band has recently undergone several changes in line-up. With that, the decision was made to refocus on working on some original material and arrangements, and adding some new-old elements. The first solid planning session should happen the weekend of the 20th.

The website revision to me was a motivating prospect; while it is still template driven, the custom elements and scheme I think cleans it up and personalize it a bit. Clean and personalized: it seems to be the filter our modern sensibility wishes to overlay upon the world. We are looking at a kick-start on several fronts in the coming months. We expect it to certainly not be clean, but hopefully the product will be highly personal. – A
Having barely escaped Ullr’s grasp, the minstrels continue with their work. We are moving forward with some new direction and ideas. And to start the slow process of revising and eventually totally overhauling our website begins. You’ll notice a few minor graphic and layout changes now. More as time permits…
